dynamic enemy scaling

my thought: have enemies be globally replaced with stronger versions as each boss dies (perhaps triggered by putting each new gem in their corresponding statue). I love the cute mushroom men and orange slimes, but they've become so weak for me that I just run past them now. that's boring! i'd rather they become a different color to signify their upgraded strength and stay worthy enemies - all without making the early early game unplayably difficult.
