Stormbringer Redesign: Battlemage Cannon
Stormbringer's design feels somewhat unfocused and its mechanics seem counterintuitive. On top of that I feel like it has the potential to feel an interesting hybrid niche if re-done in a certain way. That's what I'd like to pitch here:
I'd like to suggest two firing modes: Kinetic and Electric.
- Kinetic Mode: A wobbly red stream of distorted gravity and energy. Its damage types are Physical + Melee. Compared to the current Stormbringer it has 15% less range and does not chain to other targets, but it deals 10% more damage.
- Electric Mode: The current Stormbringer's chain lightning attack. Its damage types are Ranged + Magic. Compared to the current Stormbringer it has 10% more range and consumes mana.
As a result of these changes, Stormbringer would carve a niche for itself as a dual spec juggler weapon that encourages hybridization and attack timing while making use of skills like 'Taking a Step Back' and 'Charging In'.

TheUnk0wnDeadHonestly a great idea, because as it is right now I am really not happy with Stormbringer existing in the game.
While on one hand it may be practical under certain circumstances to have an overpowered mining tool I feel like the fact that it also is an overpowered weapon, rather a mix of an overpowered tool and overpowered weapon, makes it less appealing to use for me, I would even go as far as saying that when I first acquired it in a singleplayer playthrough that my first instinct was to suggest my friends in a multiplayer playthrough to not use it at all, it trivialized hard mode.
This suggestion doesn't mention whether the mining aspect is still being considered, but either way I feel like separating it into two modes could make it feel a lot better to use where the more powerful multi-target version is reliant on mana and magic damage buffs, while the physical (ranged) melee version may still do a lot of damage it would come with the drawback of less range and single-target.
