A way to disable destructive properties of explosions (e.g. a gameplay setting)

The main reason I avoid most kinds of explosive weaponry is due to the trail of destruction they leave behind, while it may be part of the appeal or possibly even intentional drawback I am the kind of player who would like to make use of the AoE properties but without the compromise of taking the surroundings apart, honestly even just the tilled soil explosions create is an eyesore to me, so I particularly avoid long-range explosive weapons like those reaching further beyond what can be seen on-screen, and this also includes certain magic weapons.

The best I could come up with is a gameplay setting (similar to squashing bugs) that players may individually toggle, one alternative could be an equippable item but I feel like that would just make it frustrating to play around since for equipment there may be more appealing options, another alternative could be a consumable/toggle item but there may be cases in which one may not want to carry it around yet may end up wanting to switch.
